AIDING SCIENTISTS - RESEARCHERS in Biotech & Life Sciences

Helping scientists take a concept/ R & D to a higher chance of success,

Molecular modeling, AI cell imaging enhancement, bioengineering and custom proteins and advanced process methods... are some of the skill areas, and using Molecular Biophysics' predictive powers can facilitate research and development to the next level,

Bioengineering, process and custom biologics, proteins

Our Consultants' knowledge can enable high-quality biologics, processes, custom proteins and  therapies at scale, helping to bring innovation to market faster.

Innovation assistance areas in biotech, life science

Concept Ideation-Refinement

Aiding the creative process of generating, discussing rationale, reviewing-discussing prior art/science-basis, feasiblity, abstract and concrete Ideation in the thought cycle, particularly for innovation, original work, into development, then actualization plans

Feasibility, Hypothesis, Questions

Toward formulation of the likely form, refining your formal hypothesis, then feasibility and types and methods of finding data; with emphasis on logic, pertinent questions, beginning review of prior art/related papers;   Helping form the Right Questions, upon which Einstein said he spent half the time of his research

Designing Proof, Data sources

Refining Proof of concept, data requirements and sources, review of similar experiments- papers; examining disproof, design of best proof, select methods, techniques, apparatus, and instruments; Lab requirements, availability.

Proof of concept experiments or project

Taking the prior research, hypothesis, questions

and proof experiment design, locating lab or specialists or seeking resources, funding, grant or sponsor who supports the research; Specifying & marshalling available resources/ lab, supplies-- for proof study or project.

Prior Art and Data Collectiont

Vetting the lab or sources, and managing same, protocols, lab setup, QA; Aiding actual process toward completing proof of concept, data collection, or final review of metadata/prior art; Analysis of data against theory or projections; statistical analysis of significance & reliability

The paper, patent application or secret; IP concerns and cautions

Depending on the IP nature, sponsor & whether discoveries or trade secrets may be licensable, commercial, patented or kept secret--- results and conclusions are composed and entire project critiqued; Emphasis on academic vs commercial IP trade secret protection

and presentation(s)-proposals

Scientists - Researchers - other work - Pricing examples

Negotiated Pricing by hour or contract, portions, nature-complexity-level, entity size-scope, value

For students and candidates,

We may take on an interesting topic within the scope of our expertise.

We focus on critique and being a sounding board, proofing or editing,

but WE  DO NOT DO  your paper or main concept, but mainly critique, with suggestions of tools, methods.

Pricing usually runs $60-75/hr.

or See examples below.

For more advanced stage of academia or research departments,

we can be more collaborative, including concept brainstorming (NDA may be involved), dispositive proof questions (Any paper should credit). Commercial licensing of conceiving, testing, evelopment/perfection- Negotiated.

Pricing by hour, typically $70 -$120/hr. or contract (in portions if estimate over 10 hrs). Depends on skill level required.

More difficult or high-level skill or value (important to an innovative major advance or product),

or including experiment design, lab oversight-project management---

may have portions run to $140/hr (Sr. experienced scientist may run slight more)

But typically those commercial run about $80-$120/hr by agreed estimate per phase.

For significant work spanning weeks to months,

we typically prefer a General intent agreement, broken into estimated portions-phase (with estimated hours), typically billed in progress payments by portion or number of hours (20), such as: 25% Down of portion estimate, plus Progress payments of 25% of portion or phase estimated total hours, with your 10% retainage (final hold back), settled at end  deliverable.

(simple agreement allows both parties to neither get far ahead of the other).

 If work appears too soon to reach a major valuable breakthrough  (by summary description of status and likelihood) , you will pay for  work to date; Completion (perfecting to proof) will be negotiated, depending whether high commercial value;

If so, continuation is suggested to be at/near prior hourly rate plus a 1% to 2% royalty on future sales  (and 1/2% to Buyers' Group Biotech-Start), to motivate continued "perfection" work by "an interest".  (win-win)

Peer Review Concept Plan or Paper Critique

Help to prepare for your submission when your PI , colleagues or boss is too busy or too nice to tell you what you need to know.+

Cursory Review (10-20 hours): $600-1500

In-depth Review (40 hours): $3000

+ There is no guarantee the Consultant will find all the flaws in your paper/plan/proposal, but likely the larger problems, or even how it may also not be clear enough (even if the rationale or idea seems good).

Literature (related papers or patents) Review Service

Our TopPhD Scientist consultant can help find the real gems hidden in related patents or research papers, or carefully vet the paper you stand poised to spend anywhere from thousands to millions of dollars pursuing.

These are typically helping and identifying:

Top Hidden Gems:

Vet a paper

Literature Review:$1200-$6000(depends on nature, volume, complexity of subject, scope)

Patent Prior Art Research:

A "patent perfection assistant" normally signs some of invention notebook pages or notes as "witness" with date, and offers suggestions, researches or analyzes technical or scientific principles to find closest prior art and embodiments, and may suggest novel embodiments.

Toward fee, an exchange of work for royalty on future revenue (described below, bottom under * (might be negotiated to save you part of fee (if commercial potential and funding interest appears high).

Scientific Feedback for Your Idea

If you believe you have the next big game-changing concept, but are unsure if you missed anything?  Whether it might work or is feasible?

If your NDA is reasonable (fairly standard, not over-broad), our Scientist Consultant  can likely sign that,(1) to perform a deep analysis of your rationale, hypotheses, approach, and implications, and suggest refinements and critique for weaknesses.

This can overlap with above first service of ideation work, brainstorming and review of prior art or papers, If your concept or project is not extremely complex or large, these prices would likely apply.

Other simlar services are typically in the range of:

Scientific Feedback Document (basic): $2400-3600

Scientific Critique Document with Research Plan: $4800-6000.

Again, at some milestone, a negotation may be for prior rate plus about 1%-1.5% royalty on future sales, or funding by Foundation benefactors.

NDA's and Protecting your Concept

   (1) We, you or consultant may exchange very liimited 3 or 4 -step stages of limited disclosure (field, goal, general nature, topic)--- so we can be sure there is no conflict with our own or other client’s IP's. [We can pledge a firewalFirewalls are typically inadequate'  It is best to avoid inadvertent or unintended (unconscious) cross-over of even unintended partly-proprietary knowledge]

Custom projects by-the-hour or contract per period or for set objective (with minimum if impasse)

Ideation, invention perfection assistant, experimental design, corresponding with biotech/life science CRO's, on-site or remote lab set up or commisioning, R&D, team ideation or planning sessions, project management or troubleshooting---

Our scientist can  work with you to define a scope that can address your main needs, and/or help set protocols and procedures, or QA, QC, or lab project management or review of progress. Typically work within 1000 miles.

Basic work with established procedures is typically  $70-100/hour

Cutting-edge research, new method development, breakthroughs work (regardless of results) runs about     $90-160/hour (typically $100-120/hr*

(depends on level and rarity of skills required, and knowledge of techniques and apparatus )

* IF the concept result is commercially viable and intended to be licensed or sold by your institution or spin-off, the consultant can discuss or negotiate a reasonable sliding scale in exchange for a percent (royalty fraction of future gross sales) for and based on your invention's or Trade secret's potential revenues (royalties, direct sales, sale of concept or combination (geographic and sector licensing)) and/or funds raised (for pre-seed, Seed, etc. stages)- . You might even find a Licensee or Buyer at an early stage who may advance you resources or funds as advance on royalty or tentative purchase). This and longer potential and small "split" with Consultant could save you up to half of Consultant fees on your project, if your offer is reasonable and agreed.

(This is an example of advances (as pre-seed resources) on future sale, funds raised, or royalties-based advances.)

This is known as strategic alliance contractural partnering (not investor or conventional business "partner", (as not ownership nor profit sharing ))
